The Trouble With Lily pt 2

The tears on her face were starting to freeze. She hadn’t realized how cold it was getting, when she finally looked around at her surroundings, she was completely unsure of herself. She had no idea where she was. Nothing looked familiar. She rang the doorman at her building to see if Lucien had come home yet. “No ma’am, he hasn’t. Would you like me to give him a message when he does?” He asked.
“Yes, Franklin, there is one, tell him he’s to turn around and go ask the slutty blonde for a place to sleep. You are not to allow him to enter the apartment under any circumstances, I will not put up with his philandering,” Lily responded. Since the apartment was a gift to her from her parents when she moved to the city, so, it was in her name only. Lucien could never come back. “Also, get his key back from him, please Franklin,” she added sadly.
“Of course, Miss Lily,” Franklin said, “if you don’t think me too forward Miss, I never thought he was good enough for you anyhow. Are you alright, Miss Lily? Shall I send a taxi for you?”
Lily thought about it for a moment, but realized she still had no idea where she was exactly. “No thank you Franklin, I’ll manage.”
“Miss, there’s supposed to be a blizzard tonight, and it’s starting to come down rather hard already. Are you somewhere warm right now?” Franklin inquired.
“No but I am heading there now. Thank you for your concern Franklin, I’ll see you as soon as I can get home.”
“Of course, Miss. Take care of yourself for now. Goodnight Miss Lily”
“Goodnight Franklin,” Lily replied as she hung up. She was certainly grateful to have Franklin in her life. When she first moved to the city, he was the first friendly face she met. She now knew that her parents had spoken with Franklin beforehand and had asked that he keep an eye out for her. She was young, and naïve, and they wanted to make sure she was safe. Franklin was like a grandfather to her now. She thought it was rather annoying that her parents were so overprotective, but she had come to know Franklin, and his wife, and she was glad that he had been there. She had even saved his job two years ago, when the owners of the building had tried to force him into retirement because they wanted to hire two new people for less money than they were paying Franklin. She had gotten the tenants to sign a petition that saved Franklin’s job.
